While there is a time and place for disparate approaches, it is not when you are trying to collect company-wide talent insights. At one company, talent reviews had been inconsistent and so customized that the results from one department to another differed in many ways. The scope of information collected differed from one function to the next, the included demographics of the workforce varied, the definitions of fields and described uses of the process took on a different flavor from one department to the next determined by how leaders were guided by their specific HRBP, and execution was determined by each department meaning timing and resulting data and outcomes were sporadic. In addition, individual files of talent information was stored by each department.
