I saw this quote posted on LinkedIn and I immediately thought how true the statement is. But, to cultivate leader mindset and behaviors that identify, leverage, and inspire great professionals to become great teams requires a skillset - something companies don't often recruit for, develop, or even look for during internal mobility and promotion conversations. And yet, it's imperative to the effectiveness of the leader, the team, and the organization in which they contribute that leaders do this. In addition to getting great people on the same team - which requires competency in and of itself - effective leaders spend time empowering and enabling each person to do their best work, and they create clear lanes of accountability for those superpowers and cultivate team dynamics that ensures the team can work together effectively. It sounds simple, but it takes an interconnected approach that is most effective with systems thinking and knowledge of organizational people practices and programs to identify, design, develop and activate the components to make the puzzle come together.
